This sign is the Road Cone Emergency street sign created by the Glasgow-based artist A Sign of Humour. It features Glasgow’s iconic Duke of Wellington statue outside the city’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), which has become an unofficial symbol of the city due to the habit of drunken Glaswegians clambering up it to place a plastic road cone on the Duke’s head (not an easy feat to achieve, even when sober). This has become such a common occurrence that many Glaswegians feel a certain level of shock if they ever encounter the statue without at least one road cone on it, and this sign is a play on this experience. It is the size of an A4 sheet of paper (210mm wide and 297mm tall) and is made of 1.0 mm thick PVC, with rounded corners.
This sign is also available as a mounted print and as a greetings card.
