Limited Edition Edinburgh Fringe Banana Boot Sign Mounted Print

This print is of a limited edition version Edinburgh Fringe of the Banana Boot Appropriate Footwear sign created by the Glasgow-based artist A Sign of Humour as a homage to the legendary Glaswegian comedian Billy Connolly, who is famous for wearing his iconic banana boots on stage. The boots were created for him by the Scottish pop artist Edmund Smith in 1975 and are now in the collection of the People’s Palace in Glasgow. The sign is based on a standard UK health and safety sign which can be found in many industrial settings, and so links Billy Connolly’s first career as a welder in a Glasgow shipyard to his later career as a comedian. Rather than referring to a work site, it refers to working on a street, as a reference to the many street performers who work each year at the Edinburgh Fringe. Only a maximum of twenty copies of this print will be produced and each one will be numbered and sign by A Sign Of Humour.

The print itself is 7.25 inches by 9 inches (18.5 cm by 23cm), and it comes mounted in white 1.5 inch (3.5 cm) mount with a total size of 10 inches by 12 inches (25.5 cm by 30.5cm).
